Sun Room Addition with Minor ADA and Fire Code Renovations

Project:
Adult home for MR/DD residents had become undersized and needed additional interior space for effective recreation activities. The room would have direct access to external passive recreation area.
Details:
The solution produced an expansive sunlight space enclosed with a barrel shape glass wall with eastern and partial southern exposure. Passive exterior area design to have hard and soft surfaces, strategically planted a new tree to provide shading to new spaces.
Minor Renovations included flooring, ceiling, wall treatments, and ADA handrails to corridor and adjacent spaces to new Sun Room. New fire alarm system with limited area sprinklers; plus lighting fixtures to soften the atmosphere to "feel like home".
Geier House was home to 16 MR/DD adults with on site house manager and support staff.
