FIRST WORLD ARCHITECTS STUDIO WINS ITS FIRST INDEFINITE DELIVERY INDEFINITE QUANTITY (IDIQ) CONTRACT WITH THE VETERAN ADMINISTRATION MEDICAL CENTER, OHIO ADMINISTRATION (VA) (Dayton)
Newport, Kentucky (September 20,2008) - First World Architects Studio (FWAS) back in May of this year, inked it first IDIQ Contract award, ever with an arm of the Federal Government. The VA Medical Center, Ohio responsible for VA Centers throughout the State of Ohio selected the First World Architects Studio Team out a pool of five interviewed. The FW AS Team additionally consisted of: PFB, Inc. - consulting architects, with VA design expertise; and, KLH Engineers –consulting mechanical/electrical engineers.
FWAS is truly honored to have been selected for such a very challenging position to bring quality design services to our most deserving Veterans of many wars. This contract calls for FWAS to able to offer design and engineering services on any of the V A Centers across the State of Ohio, on an as needed basis.
The variety of VA Centers across the State vary in size, complexity of issues, age of buildings and priorities of attention needed. This IDIQ contract will provide FW AS with many new challenges for our staff. WE all gladly welcome each and every project with the same kind of focus and commitment to quality as we have on all our Clients' projects, throughout our first 25 years of architectural service to this community . . . FIRST WORLD ARCHITECTS STUDIO WINS AN EXCLUSIVE CONTRACT WITH THE GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION (GSA) (Chicago)
Newport, Kentucky (September 20,2008) - First World Architects Studio (FWAS) has recently won a significantly important contract to provide Owner Construction Representation services over a five state region. A region that includes the states of:
Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.
From a very competitive field, FWAS was chosen as one of five such firms to awarded this potentially five year contract (one base year with four one year renewals based on performance). This contract places the firm in a very unique position as it advances, its less than two year entry, into the enormous and difficult Federal marketplace for architectural design and engineering services.
The contract award calls for FWAS to solely represent GSA on any of its many projects; be they renovations or new construction and providing critical construction oversight. A
sampling of the required services may be: pre-planning, programming, design development, construction management, procurement support, problem resolution, and so on.
It is rare that a firm's talent, experience and expertise is truly evaluated for the importance that it brings to the Client without having preconceive notions of size getting in the way. Being bigger does not by absolute give you better. With this contract FWAS has clearly demonstrated to GSA that along with expertise it is agile.
With this contract FW AS has been given a true honor to work for the largest, volume wise, property manager and builder of facilities in the nation, be it public or private, emphasized Charles Alexander, president and founder of FWAS, more than 25 years ago. Locally, Mr. Alexander served in the acclaim position as the special project architect/manager for the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center from fall 1996 through spring 2000; and, then returned to complete his service as part of the critical construction oversight Site and Building Committee from 2002 through 2004.
