Gaskill Hall Adaptive Reuse
Location:Oxford, Ohio
Client:Miami University
Project:
Program and redesign a 25,000 SF. Former prominent paper science department into a state of the art facility with a diversity of program needs.
Details:
Paper science program demanded: new laboratories, classrooms, and administrative support areas; conversion of surplus spaces into new campus wide multi-media center with a 20 CPU microcomputer training laboratory.
The three story structure required extensive modifications and replacements to: electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems; fire protection and laboratory fume hoods and other specialized exhaust systems; rearranging walls for more efficiency of operations.
Energy conservation issues were addressed in design for heating and lighting systems. Critical horizontal and vertical circulation pathways modified for ADA compliance resolution. All public restrooms addressed such ADA issues.
