Patel's New Garage Addition

Location: Anderson Township, Cincinnati, Ohio
Client: Joan & Dilip Patel

Project:
Owners having purchased a unique hexagonal shaped architecturally designed house needed to add a new two-car garage. This project first required a zoning hearing because of the architectural character of the house and the closeness of a proposed garage to adjacent property lines.

Details:
Additionally the new garage finishes were to minimally be the same as the house to which it was being attached. This involved: stone at base, cedar siding above with appropriate trim work. A serious challenge was presented by the original placement of the house relative to the buildings setbacks. Given this difficult and challenging issue it, it meant that our office developed a footprint that shaved off a 45% slice of the corner which extended over building setbacks while continuing to comply with all other design parameters.

A significant challenge was persecuted by the low underside of the steep sloping "A" type roof system. Given where the garage had to be positioned its roof had to be custom built and incorporated as part of the existing.
