Riverview East Academy
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Client: Cincinnati Public Schools
Project:
The firm teamed with SFA architects to design one of the most unique K-12 new schools for the Cincinnati Public School (CPS) system. This facility would be CPS's first new K-12 project, so it set some new standards even beyond, the then OSFC design standards.
Details:
The facility was designed to accommodate the housing and consolidation of two existing school programs, which would then be converted into one with a few years after opening. The educational program would be designed for a student population of 650. Significant integrative programming would incorporate the partners, such as: the public library, police, health clinic, museum center, YMCA after school programs, etc.
The site provided was in a flood plain, so the facility was creatively designed to sit on top of piles and be elevated above the 100-year flood mark. This provided for parking and play areas underneath the building during most of the school year.
