Client: Butler County Behavioral Health Services (BCBHS)
Location: Middletown, Ohio
Project:
As part of a combined design - relocating the local food parity into a building with more space then it needed - the Behavioral Health Services contracted to occupy the second floor of the building.
Details:
Given the sensitive and high security nature of its service BCBHS had to have high level of public/private separation and control points designed into spaces which would undergo an adaptive reuse sequence. Offices were designed with electronic alarms internal to office operations and external to police department. One way glass was placed in certain locations so visual monitoring could continuously occur as the need would arise. Metal doors with solid core were installed throughout as basic standard items. Drywall used at new walls was certified for high intensity use making these elements resistant to most above average attacks by behavior challenged patients.
