Cornerstone Cafe (Tenant Finish)

Tenant Improvements & Renovations
Client: Cornerstone, LLC - Robert Long
Location: Forest Park, Ohio - Cincinnati Mills Mall

Project:
Redesign of a vacant mall space into a unique cafe featuring handmade pizzas - cooked in a wood fired brick oven. Decor of cafe was to reflect a European sidewalk cafe. Time frame for design to construction completion was a short 45 days.

Details:
Cafe design was generated from client's collection of photos, equipment specifications and rough sketches. Wood burning pizza oven - a self contained unit weighed more than 2 tons and came in one piece. Structural engineering was required to beef up the floor system and provide an air exhaust shaft for unit exhaust. Perimeter walls were constructed for flexibility of being open when cafe is in operation and enclosed when cafe is closed for business.

Project was complicated by attempting to meet the ADA compliance in: existing restrooms; the change in floor elevations at entrance and at door terrace areas. Wood trellis structure was recreated from a partial photo of a detail provided.

Tenant provided final painting motif and surfacing and all project signage. Coordination was continuously with Mall managers had to initially approve major items before any work could proceed.
